A Britain\u2019s Got Talent star has died after suffering with a \u2018very brief illness.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A star from Britain\u2019s Got Talent has sadly died after developing sepsis just last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A statement released by his son noted that the star died in the \u2018early hours of Wednesday (October 8) morning surrounded by his loved ones.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The devastated son added: \u201cFor those that knew him, he lit up a room wherever he went and everyone instantly fell in love with him.\u201dFans of the show rushed to pay their respects in the comments, offering condolences to his family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The singer appeared on the 2020 series of the talent show, and was known for famously blowing Simon Cowell away in his first audition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dave Betton, 82, was joined on stage alongside his son, Dean, and received a standing ovation for their rendition of Frank Sinatra\u2019s \u2018That\u2019s Life.\u2019Amanda Holden claimed the father-son duo has \u2018smashed\u2019 their audition, while head judge Cowell said: \u201cThere are certain days I think what I need is a mug of hot chocolate \u2013 and you were a mug of hot chocolate!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou made me feel good, I needed that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two made it to the latter stages of the competition, after being kept in by a public vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Announcing the sad news, his son Dean wrote: \u201cIt is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I have to let you all know that the legend that is Dave Betton sadly passed away after a very brief illness, surrounded by his loved ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Myself, my brother Darren, our wives, his grandsons and granddaughters, great grandsons and great granddaughters, extended family and all his friends will miss him dearly and he will leave us with a huge void to fill.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added: \u201cRest easy Pops and I hope Mum is giving you a big telling off for joining her far too soon. Love you always. From me and your loving Family.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prior to the death of his wife, Dave was a well-known club singer, before doing a tour in Australia and South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following her death, his son became a musician, and made a career for himself as a Robbie Williams tribute act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His funeral will be held on October 27, after suffering from sepsis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Symptoms of the life-threatening illness include a fever, uncontrolled shivering, confusion, passing little urine, and a blotchy rash.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
