Proud Boys say Trump will lose their support if he engages in Iran war

Donald Trump has ignited intense global debate after ordering airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, opening a new chapter in his second term as President. In his national address on Saturday evening, Trump described the mission as a “spectacular military success.”

“The U.S. military carried out massive precision strikes on the three key nuclear assemblies in the Iranian regime: Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan,” Trump declared from the White House.

“Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror.”

International Leaders Express Concern Over Escalation

The response from world leaders was immediate and divided. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the attack on X (formerly Twitter), calling it:

“Outrageous… Each and every member of the UN must be alarmed over this extremely dangerous, lawless, and criminal behavior.”

Iran’s leadership warned of “everlasting consequences”, invoking the right to defend its sovereignty under the UN Charter.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Trump’s decisive military action, declaring:

“President Trump and I often say: ‘Peace through strength.’ First comes strength, then comes peace. And tonight, Donald Trump and the United States acted with a lot of strength.”

However, many other global leaders voiced caution. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned of a “dangerous escalation” in the Middle East, while China sharply condemned the strikes. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer highlighted the volatile state of the region, stressing that stability must remain a priority.

Proud Boys Threaten to Withdraw Support for Trump

While much of Trump’s conservative base remains loyal, cracks are beginning to appear. Notably, the far-right extremist group Proud Boys—long-time Trump supporters—issued a strong warning in response to the airstrikes.

On their official Telegram account, the group stated:

“If the United States gets directly involved in the Israel-Iran conflict, the voters that voted for Trump because there was a hope that Trump was America First can no longer support Trump. America First does not mean war for Israel.”

The Proud Boys went on to urge Trump to refocus on domestic priorities:

“Donald Trump, focus on the health of our nation, period. We are crumbling. We are crippled with debt with no plan for a solution. Be the President you ran as.”

This public break from the Proud Boys marks a significant shift, given their long-standing allegiance to Trump. The group’s former leader, Enrique Tarrio, was pardoned by Trump following his conviction related to the January 6 Capitol riots. The two had reportedly met in Florida just weeks ago.

The Stakes Are High for Trump’s Second Term

The Middle East crisis is quickly becoming one of the most consequential tests of Trump’s leadership during his second term. Though he campaigned on an “America First” platform that promised to reduce U.S. military involvement abroad, his recent actions suggest a far more complicated reality.

As tensions escalate, Trump faces mounting pressure from both domestic allies and foreign leaders. The outcome of this crisis may not only define his presidency but could also reshape the landscape of American politics heading into the next election cycle.
