Cole and I had been married for 16 years.
We had six children together, and the youngest had just turned five.
Life was busy, chaotic, sometimes exhausting — but I truly believed we had a happy marriage.
I was wrong.
One evening, after putting all the kids to bed, I heard a phone buzzing on the nightstand.
Cole was in the shower, so I grabbed it, thinking it was mine.
But it wasn’t.
It was Cole’s phone.
And the message on the screen made my stomach drop.
The contact name read: “Alyssa. Trainer.”
The text said:
“Sweetheart, I can’t wait for our next meeting ❤️ We’re still going to the hotel by the lake this weekend, right? 💋”
My hands started shaking.
Was my husband cheating on me with his fitness trainer?
When Cole came out of the shower, I confronted him immediately.
“What is this?” I demanded.
He didn’t even try to deny it.
Instead, he shrugged like it was nothing.
“Yes, I’m with Alyssa now,” he said calmly. “I’ve been meaning to tell you for a while.”
I felt like the ground disappeared beneath my feet.
“What about our family?” I asked.
He looked me up and down.
“She makes me feel alive again,” he said coldly. “And you… when was the last time you looked in the mirror? You’ve let yourself go.”
Those words hit harder than anything else.
That same night, he packed a suitcase.
When I reminded him that we had six children, he barely reacted.
“I’ll send money,” he said.
And then he walked out the door.
I spent that entire night crying.
Not just for myself, but for the life our children thought they had.
The next morning I forced myself to get up, make breakfast, and try to act normal for the kids.
Inside, I was shattered.
Part of me wanted revenge.
Part of me just wanted answers.
But before I could figure out what to do next, my phone rang.
It was Mark, one of Cole’s coworkers and a longtime friend of ours.
He sounded frantic.
“Grab your jacket and get to the office right now,” he shouted.
“You won’t believe what’s happening to Cole!”
Confused and nervous, I drove straight to the company building.
When I walked inside, the atmosphere was strange.
People were whispering.
Some were staring.
Then I saw Cole.
Standing outside the manager’s office.
His face was pale.
That’s when Mark pulled me aside and explained everything.
The company had discovered that Cole had been secretly using company funds for months.
Thousands of dollars had disappeared from the corporate accounts.
Hotel reservations.
Gym memberships.
Luxury gifts.
All for Alyssa.
Apparently, he had been using a company credit card to impress her.
That morning, the accounting department finally uncovered the transactions.
Cole had been fired on the spot.
And worse…
The company was preparing to press charges.
He stood there in the hallway, looking completely lost.
For the first time in months, he looked scared.
When he saw me, he walked toward me slowly.
“I made a mistake,” he whispered.
But by then, something inside me had already changed.
Because sometimes…
Karma doesn’t wait for revenge.
It shows up all on its own.
