The Divorce Case That Took an Unexpected Turn

The courtroom was quiet as the judge adjusted his glasses and looked down at the nervous man standing before him. This wasn’t a dramatic case filled with shouting or accusations. No betrayal. No scandal. Just a tired husband who looked like he’d reached the end of his patience. The judge leaned forward and asked the simplest question of all.

“Why do you want a divorce?”

The man sighed deeply and clasped his hands together. “Your Honor,” he said, “my wife asks me to peel garlic, cut onions, wash utensils… every single day.” His voice carried the exhaustion of someone who had spent far too much time in the kitchen against his will.

The judge raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. “And what’s the problem with that?” he asked. “Just warm up the garlic and it will be easy to peel. Before cutting onions, chill them in the refrigerator. And while washing utensils, use warm water. Simple solutions.”

The man’s eyes widened in disbelief. He paused, then slowly looked up at the judge. “Your Honor,” he said carefully, “if you know all these kitchen tricks… why don’t you get married?”

The courtroom went silent for a split second.

Then the judge slammed his gavel and declared, “Divorce granted!”

The man walked out a free soul, and the judge silently reconsidered just how much wisdom was too much to share.
